About the role:
The Senior Legal Counsel will be a core member of the Group in house legal team. The role holder will provide legal advice to the Board and Senior Management, and work closely with client-facing employees and external advisers in relation to legal matters arising in the day-to-day administration of complex high-value fiduciary structures.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice in relation to trust, tax and company law, and support Client
- Administration teams (predominately Client Directors and above) in the technical drafting of trust instruments and contractual agreements.
- Manage and oversee the work of junior Legal Counsel and play a key role in their personal development.
- Develop wider roles within the business (e.g. act as personal director to corporate trustees/directors or lead client relationships to increase revenue generation).
Skills and experience:
- Previous experience held in private practice or inhouse legal within a similar trust business.
- A good understanding of the Codes, guidelines, and expectations of the JFSC.
- Knowledge of trust and company law and (ideally) UK tax law, including a sound knowledge of fiduciary structures and functions.
