Job purpose
The MLRO is responsible for deciding whether suspicions reported to the MLRO should be reported externally to the JFCU and, if so, making the external report in the form required by law. It is imperative that the MLRO always follows internal policies and procedures carefully and clearly and comprehensively documents his/her activities and deliberations.
Main Responsibilities
• To receive SARs from CFSL staff and review, acknowledge and investigate them as soon as practicable. Internal SARs should be processed within two working days (upon receipt of an internal SAR, if this deadline is not practicable, the MLRO must immediately discuss it with a Director and agree an appropriate timescale)
• To acknowledge receipt of SARs and, at the same time, provide a reminder to the reporting staff member of their obligation to ensure they do not say or do anything that might ‘tip off’ the client
• Ensure the staff member who submitted the SAR has not filtered the information in any way
The MLRO must:
• Be employed by CFSL or an enterprise in CFSL’s financial group
• Be based in Jersey
• Have sufficient experience and skills
