Purpose of the role:
You will be responsible for the preparation of internal financial reporting and analysis to support group strategy, helping to drive business performance through effective business partnering, and managing the annual budgeting and business planning processes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop team of three Management Accountants including line management responsibility
- Preparation of management reporting, cost reporting and other internal reporting for Legal and Business Services
- Provide accurate, timely and comprehensive reporting to the management team, Partners and Directors to assist them in monitoring and improving business performance, and developing future strategy
- Drive business performance through effective business partnering, working collaboratively to influence at all levels of the business
- Influence behaviour within finance and the wider business for continuous improvement, in areas such as financial management, profitability, working capital management and pricing
- Construct and evaluate financial models, business cases and analysis for new initiatives to ensure scarce resources are allocated to the best opportunities
- Management of annual budgeting and multi-year planning processes, in line with the firm's objectives
- Prepare financial forecasting models, including balance sheet and cash flow forecasts, to assist with business planning
Skills required:
- Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA)
- Strong people management skills and team management experience
- Proven experience of developing and delivering clear, accurate and relevant reports to aid decision making
- Ability to demonstrate a high degree of numeracy and analytical thinking
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and influence at all levels of the business
- Experience of management of finance planning processes including annual budgeting, cash-flow forecasting and multi-year planning is desirable
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and particularly Excel
- Experience with using Aderant Expert or other law firm practice management software beneficial, but not essential
