Purpose of the role:
Primary focus will be on regulatory compliance with additional support on the management of financial crime prevention.
Responsibilities:
- Providing coaching and guidance to junior members of the team
- Implementing and maintaining internal controls, policies and procedures pertaining to the compliance function
- Maintaining the compliance monitoring programme (‘CMP’) to ensure all relevant risks are reviewed and stay in line with regulatory requirements and developments
- Review all CMP reviews undertaken to ensure that they have been completed in line with procedures and identify any issues arising that may need urgent reporting to senior management
- Ad hoc training, coaching and guidance to other members of the staff
- As required, provide support to Group Risk Management with regard to the Jersey Risk Committee
- To participate in various projects including, providing strategic guidance, research, devising policies and procedures
- Coaching and assisting with the development and training of the team
- Ensure compliance with company standards, policies and procedures
Skills required:
- A number of years’ previous experience in a similar role
- Relevant industry qualification(s); at least one from the desirable list
- A thorough understanding of Jersey Financial Services legislation, in particular the Financial Services Jersey Law, subordinate legislation, Codes of Practice for Trust Company Business Proceeds of Crime Law, the Money Laundering Order and the AML Handbook
- Must be able to be approved as a Key Person as defined by Article 1 of the Financial Services (Jersey) Law 1998
