Purpose of the role:
The position of Group Accountant plays an essential role with the core responsibility being to ensure that the co-ordination of external financial reporting of the Group’s activities in the minerals and extractive industry to regulatory bodies and capital market jurisdictions is achieved within statutory guidelines and timeframes.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Procure to Pay function for the Group taking all transactions through to readiness for payment by the Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director
- Establish, implement and maintain a core set of Accounting policies and procedures which support the broad objectives of the Group’s control environment
- Policies and procedures will extend to cover, but not limited to, financial, accounting, delegated authorities etc.
- Optimisation of the Infor SUN financial software of the Group
- Upheld high principles of master data management for the Group
- Aim to become a Infor SUN financial/transactional and Vision Q&A super user
Skills required:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Commerce together with recognised post-graduate qualifications
- Preferably a Chartered Accountant registered and in good standing with a recognised professional body
- Big 4 audit firm experience (preferable)
- It is essential that the incumbent be qualified with 5 years’ relevant experience or perceived to be ready for promotion into the role. A strong supervisory background and high degree of computer literacy are key elements to the role
