Purpose of the role:
You will work with the Head of European Compliance and the Guernsey Compliance Manager to help ensure that Legal employees adhere to their regulatory obligations, professional standards and industry leading best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure AML/ CFT policies and procedures are maintained in respect of all relevant laws, regulations and guidance issued by the Jersey authorities and local supervising bodies
- Support the implementation and maintenance of group policies, procedures and processes
- Promote compliance best practice to staff across all areas of the organization
- Act as a point of contact for compliance queries from partners and staff
- Maintain the AML/CFT risk assessments
- Provide input on AML/CFT risks to Risk Assessment Panel for the onboarding of new customers
- Prepare relevant reporting to the group and local Boards (covering AML/ CFT, MLRO and sanctions reports)
- Manage the breaches, errors, omissions, complaints and gifts logs
- Assist with the maintenance of Compliance Team databases and systems
Skills required:
- 5 years' experience in a similar role
- Good understanding of regulatory requirements and best practice affecting lawyers in Jersey and Guernsey and the ability to apply this knowledge in practice
- Knowledge and understanding of various corporate vehicles/fund structures, specific to Europe
- Ability to maintain and develop a good relationship with internal and external clients
- Willing to take the lead in setting the tone for corporate integrity
- Good analytical and organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines
