Purpose of the role:
Our client is looking for a Business Risk Manager to be responsible for co-ordinating the business adherence to the Risk Management Framework. As a key part in the First Line of Defence the Business Risk Manager provides oversight and support in the identification, assessment, management and reporting of risks.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring a strong First Line of Defence is in place and aligned to the Risk Management Framework
- Responsible for the development of a strong risk awareness and client fairness culture, ensuring where appropriate a consistent control environment across all Business Lines
- Ensuring that a comprehensive risk and control assessment exists for all aspects of the business, taking a proactive approach to identification, management and reporting of the assessment and reviewing its overall completeness and effectiveness on an ongoing basis with the business
- Acts as a central interface between the the Business Lines and the Second and Third Line of Defence functions by reporting regularly and coordinating the closing of open issues relating to preventative (ex-ante) and detective (ex-post) controls
- Assess the output of the performance of the controls, opines on and, where appropriate, proposes process improvement initiatives (together with the CAO, Head of Risk and Compliance and the relevant Business Line Heads)
Skills required:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Proficient in the use of a range of Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required
- The ability to work independently, communicate with clarity and purpose both in written and verbal forms, build strong relationships and credibility with key internal stakeholders so as to represent business risk effectively
- Experience with general risk management, including control frameworks are preferred with the ability to distil complex and varied information into useful, insightful, and concise recommendations
- Qualified Risk Professional (Institute of Risk Management (IRM), International Compliance Association (ICA)) or equivalent would be desirable but are not essential
- Bachelor degree or above in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field would be desirable but are not essential
