Accountant - Fiduciary Accounting - Jersey

About the role:

This role supports the finance and client accounting teams by leading the preparation of financial statements and maintaining accurate books and records for a portfolio of client entities. The successful candidate will be responsible for complex reconciliations, reviewing work prepared by junior staff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Full responsibility for the accounting of a portfolio of client entities, including trusts, companies, and partnerships.
  • Preparation and review of management accounts and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant reporting standards.
  • Review and oversight of bookkeeping performed by junior team members, including resolving queries and providing guidance.
  • Perform complex bank and investment reconciliations and assist with audit preparation.
  • Liaise with administrators and third parties (e.g., auditors, banks, investment managers) to resolve accounting and reporting issues.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of internal controls and process improvements.
  • Support and mentor junior accountants, including involvement in training and performance development.
  • Ensure compliance with CPD requirements and maintain awareness of industry best practices and relevant regulatory changes.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in fiduciary or client accounting.
  • Qualified or part-qualified in a recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CPA) or equivalent.
  • Experience preparing financial statements under UK GAAP, IFRS, or other applicable standards.
  • Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
  • Experience working within a regulated financial services environment is preferred.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
