About the role:
This role supports the finance and client accounting teams by leading the preparation of financial statements and maintaining accurate books and records for a portfolio of client entities. The successful candidate will be responsible for complex reconciliations, reviewing work prepared by junior staff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full responsibility for the accounting of a portfolio of client entities, including trusts, companies, and partnerships.
- Preparation and review of management accounts and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant reporting standards.
- Review and oversight of bookkeeping performed by junior team members, including resolving queries and providing guidance.
- Perform complex bank and investment reconciliations and assist with audit preparation.
- Liaise with administrators and third parties (e.g., auditors, banks, investment managers) to resolve accounting and reporting issues.
- Assist with the development and implementation of internal controls and process improvements.
- Support and mentor junior accountants, including involvement in training and performance development.
- Ensure compliance with CPD requirements and maintain awareness of industry best practices and relevant regulatory changes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in fiduciary or client accounting.
- Qualified or part-qualified in a recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CPA) or equivalent.
- Experience preparing financial statements under UK GAAP, IFRS, or other applicable standards.
- Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
- Experience working within a regulated financial services environment is preferred.
